
Mark Hormann
E8 member, Sales VP at venture backed growth companies, M&A at Siemens Energy
Mark is an enthusiastic energy tech entrepreneur & investor.
He is currently Vice President of US Sales for Opus One Solutions, where he leads US commercialization and strategy. At Opus One he was instrumental in closing a software deal to optimize the Los Angeles area electrical distribution grid in the context of the influx of customer sided solar, batteries and electric vehicles.
Prior to Opus One, Mark was Vice President of Sales & Strategy at Varentec, acquired by Koch, where he was globally responsible for sales, key accounts, & go-to-market strategy. During his tenure Varentec raised a $13M+ round from 3M, Bill Gates & Khosla Ventures.
Mark obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba after which he was employed as a distribution engineer at Manitoba Hydro. He has an MBA, with honors, from the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College where he majored in Finance and Technology Management.
Following his MBA, Mark joined Siemens on the global buy-side M&A team, building out the portfolio of Siemens energy software businesses. Mark was involved in the $200M+ deal of eMeter and took on the role of acquisition integration team lead to see the deal execution through to post merger integration. After the successful integration, Mark took ownership to develop & commercialize the SaaS applications for Siemens Grid Applications globally.
Mark lives with his wife, Kristen, and two young daughters on Bainbridge Island, WA.
